Hi, I'm Brooke!
Hello! I'm Brooke Jedele ( YADE-LEE) . I am a born and raised Rhode Islander, so yes, what everyone else calls a "water fountain", I call a "bubblah." I grew up in a massive Italian and Polish family, always putting on old fashioned variety shows in crowded living rooms. My passion for acting began when I played Duffy in the Newport Children's Theatre summer camp, Annie, at just ten years old, I had two whole lines and felt like a star!
I am currently earning my BFA in Actor Training at The Hartt School. Throughout my years at Hartt, I've studied both contemporary and on-camera acting, improv and clowning, character mask, and voiceover. Besides acting, I've also taken screenwriting classes, which has honed my skills for writing. As a part of my degree, I also spent three months studying Shakespeare with the Drama Studio of London. Throughout my time with DSL, I had workshops with professionals from both the Globe and the Royal Shakespeare Company, and performed as Touchstone in As You Like It.
Speaking of being a clown... my love for comedy is strong. I have fond memories of belly laughing to re-run episodes of The Carol Burnett Show and Seinfeld. It wasn't until I emceed my brother's high school comedy show, that my love became a reality. Since then, I've written for and performed in many live and filmed comedic sketches for cabarets at The Hartt School and various Variety Shows.
Here are a few more facts that just came to mind:
-
I am a state basketball champion, despite being absolutely terrible at the game
-
When I was five, I won a ten minute staring contest, and that event is still talked about to this day
-
I once had to give a 15 minute debate in the french language
-
I am not a competitive person EXCEPT when it comes to the 80s arcade game: Centipede... and then I become a monster
-
I survived 15 years of Catholic school - with recess activities like four square and getting to clap out the blackboard erasers
